Our story

Hello, we’re Vickie and Andrew

We have lived and socialised around Skipton for many years, and we have lots of friends here. Vickie is a Lancashire lass by birth who fell in love with North Yorkshire after Andrew introduced her to it, and she trained and worked as a nurse for many years. Andrew works locally.

Why Skipton

The Gateway to the Dales

Skipton is a historic market town on the southern edge of the Yorkshire Dales, with a 900-year-old castle, the Leeds and Liverpool Canal running through its centre and a High Street market several days a week. It makes a lively base for a weekend away and an easy one for exploring the Dales.

Transport links

Skipton railway station is an eight to ten minute walk from High Street House, and the bus station about three minutes. Direct trains to Leeds take about 40 minutes and run several times an hour, and London King’s Cross is around three and a half hours away, usually with a change at Leeds.

By car, Skipton sits where the A59, A65 and A629 meet: roughly 45 minutes from Leeds, 40 minutes from Harrogate, an hour and a quarter from York or Manchester, and about 35 minutes from Leeds Bradford Airport. Journey times are approximate and depend on traffic.
